Choosing the Right School for Your Child
Deciding on a school for your child can be a challenging process — and finding the right school can feel even harder. We understand that this decision can be made more complicated by factors such as army postings, house moves, transferring schools mid-year, or changes in your family situation. Each of these events can be stressful on their own, and we recognise how difficult it can be to manage them all together.
Use the tabs below to find the most relevant information for your family’s circumstances. Each school sets its own admissions policy in line with Hampshire County Council’s overarching policy and admissions timetable.
You can view our admissions policies for the current academic year, next year 2026-27 and 2027-28 on the Policy Page.
Useful Links and Information
The links below are designed to provide you with the specific information you may need, depending on when and how you would like your child to join us. However, if you’d like to explore the full set of details, you can easily access Hampshire County Council’s admissions information by clicking here.
Some of our families who live in outlying areas — where there is no safe walking route to school — may be eligible for school transport. You can check your eligibility and apply online through the Hampshire School Transport Portal.
You might also be wondering whether you live within our catchment area. You can find out by using the Catchment Area Finder. Please note that we frequently welcome children from outside our catchment area, so don’t let that discourage you from applying!
Starting School in September 2026?

Joining Our School Mid-Year
Your child may currently attend another Hampshire school, or you may be moving from outside the county and need to change schools. Whatever your circumstances, the following information applies only if your child will not be joining us in Year R in September 2026 .
This means it covers all other year groups and ages, and in-year applications can be made at any point during the school year. You can expect a response to your application within 10 school days. Full details are on the Hampshire In-Year Application Pages
Please note:
Applications can only be considered up to four weeks in advance of your requested start date. Unfortunately, we are unable to hold places for longer than this.
The only exception is for applications made in June or July for a September start. If this applies to you, please contact our school office so that we can advise you of the current deadlines and guide you through the next steps.
How To Apply
You can apply directly to Hampshire County Council using their online admissions system. This is a quick and convenient option, especially if you are moving into the area and are unable to visit the school in person. It quickly registers your application and ensures we have the correct information for you.
Please remember to send any supporting documents separately, such as proof of your new address.
Applications can be made by clicking here.
You can also apply using a paper application form requested from, and submitted directly to, the school. Once we receive your form, we will let you know whether we have a space for your child(ren) and handle the necessary paperwork and communication with Hampshire County Council on your behalf.
Appealing an Admissions Decision
If your child’s application to our school is unsuccessful, you have the right to appeal the decision. All appeals are heard independently and follow a clear, structured timetable.
Appeals may be made on one of two grounds:
-
Infant Class Size Appeals – This applies when an application is refused because admitting another child would exceed the legal limit of 30 pupils per infant class.
-
Standard Appeals – This applies when an application is refused on the grounds that admitting another child would prejudice the provision of efficient education or the efficient use of resources.
Further details, including full guidance and supporting documentation for both types of appeal, can be found on the Hampshire County Council website (appeals information page).
Special Educational or Medical Needs
You may feel that your child has special educational needs (SEN) or that you need to apply for a place at our school on medical grounds. In our admissions policy, there is particular guidance on these complex issues and you can also find more information here.
